Did you catch the two new patterns up on Knitty? Fluidity is a lace tank designed by Jennie Pakula (that’s a detail of the garment, left). The second “Surprise” is Susanna IC’s beauty of a shawl which is called Annis. I’ve finished my Cropped Cardi and really like it. Now I’ve started another Knitty sweater that caught my eye a while back— Amelia designed by Laura Chau. She’s a very talented designer who also blogs at Cosmicpluto Knits.

What’s the next “must knit” item? What will the cool kids be knitting? That was a recent query on Ravelry. Cowls, slouchy hats, fingerless gloves, toeless socks and legwarmers all got mentioned as possibilities. Also, Marketbags. This one designed by Judy Croucher for Classic Elite gets my vote for being great looking and actually functional. But the trend that was mentioned that I definitely think will take off is the small triangular 1 skein sock yarn shawl. Here are some great patterns: Ishbel designed by Ysolda Teague for her Whimsical Little Knits book (left), the Milkweed Shawl by Laura Chau of Cosmicpluto Knits, Boneyard Shawl by Stephen West of WestKnits, Baktus by Strikkelise, and the really beautiful Aestlight Shawl designed by the talented Gudrun Johnston.
